A Scottish Prisoner of War
I am descended from William Furbish, who fought in the Battle of Dunbar for Scotland in 1650. The Scots lost the battle and William became a prisoner, was shipped to America on the ship Unity, and became an indentured servant in the Kittery, Maine area. A wonderful website to learn more about these prisoners of war is provided by the Scottish Prisoners of War Society. A sketch of William Furbish can be found here.
